In the western side of the island of Rhodes lies the Valley of the Butterflies (Petaloudes), one of the most attractive destinations on the island. During August, millions of pretty panaxia quadripunctaria butterflies overwhelm the valley in order to reproduce decorating rocks and trees with their beauty.Prassonissi
Prassonissi is one of the most impressive beaches on the island. Two sandy coves, ending in an island that you can reach on foot or by swimming, depending on the weather and the level of water. A paradise for surfers, especially in July and August!Embonas
The highest and most romantic village of Rhodes – at an altitude of about 800m – sits at the foot of Mt. Attavyros the tallest mountain on the island and one of the tallest on the Aegean. Embonas is known for its good food and fine wines. Definitely worth visiting to taste some European award winners at the Emery winery.Marine Aquarium
Built in the period 1934-36 by an Italian architect, the Aquarium apart from being a worth visiting Museum is also an active research unit of the National Centre for Marine Research. Located on a small peninsula on the north part of the city, its interiors resemble an atmospheric underwater sea cave, whereas its impressive contents travel you to the exciting living marine world of the Mediterranean.Rodini Park
Probably the first landscaped park in the world! Located in Rhodes town, the park lies in a green and shady bed of a stream. Ideal environment for the peacocks that live and breed freely and for ...cool walks even in the heart of the summer heat. In August a wine festival takes place with folk music and traditional delicacies.
